Ghetto Defined

People often ask about the title of my Blog. My answer is man’s sinful nature has turned His garden into a ghetto and we’re on a crash collision course with our destiny.

Psalms 103:8

The Psalm of David was beautifully written in Old Testament time and it still holds true to this very day. It also clearly states here that the Lord does get angry. It is one of many passages throughout the Old and New Testament that demonstrates His anger that will eventually bring out his wrath on the ungodly.

This passage in Hebrews 13:8 tells us this. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 10:26 also tells us what will happen to us if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of truth. Of course I would recommend you read this whole chapter to get the full meaning of what is being said here.

How can you preach the love of God if you don't leave room for repentance. I'm finding that more churches are preaching a happy slapply kind of message and don't want to offend anybody of what's about to become of their souls if they don't repent. Friend's you can't have revival without repentance, it's that simple. Proverbs 1:9 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Do we fear the Lord because of His love? Or do we fear the Lord because of His anger?

  1. There is a common misconception of the word "fear" in the Bible as it relates to "fearing God". I offer this explanation from Luther's Small Catechism; however the same will be found in other doctrines of various churches.
    The first commandment:
You shall have no other gods.
    What does this mean?
We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.
    A. We fear God above all things when we revere Him alone as the highest being,
honor Him with our lives, and avoid what displeases Him.
65 Gen. 17:1 I am God almighty; walk before Me and be blameless.
66 Ps. 33:8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere Him.
67 Ps. 96:4 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods.
68 Prov. 8:13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil.
69 Matt. 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Bible narrative: The three men in the fiery furnace feared God more than the king (Daniel 3).

  2. Very well demonstrated. I am afraid, none of us have enough fear of Him. But, fearfully so.
